Social Learning Approaches (10)
The environment that a preschool child is in affects their moral development. Positive feedback from adults to preschoolers is good guidance for the child to establish self esteem , self confidence, and good behavior. Positive feedback also helps the preschool child with their identy with learning behavior and identifying gender differences.
Feedback from adults is important to preschoolers as they play with other children. Preschoolers observe other children in play with action and preschool children often copy what they see and hear. To a preschool child, other children are models just like adults. Adults are the guidance for preschool children in reinforcing behavior for healthy social relationships and behaviors.
TV and video games are also a concern with preschoolers and social learning due to violence seen. Aggression is often shown
and preschoolers immitate what they see. Preschool children often act on hitting or taking things from other children. Preschoolers should be redirected if aggression is shown. The redirection would be a guidance to moral thinking with open ended questioning as well as optional ways of handeling situations. This guidance would help the preschool child to reduce aggression and to be more informed with reality. This also holds true for preschoolers who roleplay “hero’s” that often have fighting involved. The more information that a preschooler receives from guidance is good for their growth in social behavior.
